Structural Steel & Welding Inspection

NEX provides professional engineering-supported welding inspection and structural steel inspection services through qualified personnel, including Professional Engineers (P.Eng.) and certified welding inspection specialists. Services include visual weld inspections, structural steel and fabrication shop inspections, steel deck inspections, precast panel connection inspections, and non-destructive testing (NDT) — Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT). All inspections are performed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements, under the supervision of Professional Engineers where required.

Window Manufacturing Plant Visits

Perform quality assurance inspections at window manufacturing facilities to verify that fabricated window systems comply with approved shop drawings, project specifications, performance requirements, and applicable industry standards. We review fabrication processes, materials, glazing components, hardware, dimensional tolerances, quality control procedures, and manufacturing documentation prior to product delivery to the construction site.

On-Site Window Air & Water Testing

Conduct field testing of installed window and window wall systems in accordance with applicable CSA, ASTM, AAMA, or project-specific testing standards. We evaluate air infiltration, water penetration resistance, and installation quality, identify deficiencies, recommend corrective measures, and verify the effectiveness of remedial work through follow-up testing when required.

Railing Load Testing

Conduct on-site structural load testing of installed guardrails, handrails, and glass railing systems to verify compliance with project specifications, the Ontario Building Code, and applicable standards. We evaluate structural integrity, anchorage performance, and serviceability under prescribed loading conditions, document test results, identify deficiencies, and provide recommendations for corrective action and compliance verification.

Material Installation Performance Testing

Perform on-site testing and evaluation of installed building materials and systems, as required by project specifications, quality assurance programs, manufacturer requirements, or applicable standards.

• Waterproofing membrane pull-off tests
• Spray foam / polyurethane insulation thickness verification
• Firestopping material thickness (e.g. CAFCO systems)
• Traffic topping thickness on concrete slabs
• Caulking adhesion and cohesion testing

Precast Water Penetration Testing

Conduct on-site water penetration testing of precast concrete wall assemblies to verify the performance of panel joints, sealants, flashings, and interface details under simulated weather conditions. Testing is performed in accordance with applicable project specifications and recognized industry standards to evaluate the watertightness of the precast façade system.
